Free scripts

Finding one that works on your server, and installing it.

Free scripts are plain .sk files. There's no loader and no key: download, drop in, and go.

Finding one that works on your server

Skript and its addons change quickly, so compatibility matters more here than on most marketplaces. Every listing shows the Minecraft versions, Skript versions and addons its creator says it supports.

  • Filter on browse by your Skript version, Minecraft version and the addons you have installed. You'll only see scripts that list all of them.
  • Check a listing against your server. The compatibility section on a script's page has a grid and a "Does this work on my server?" checker. You can paste the output of /version, /version Skript and /plugins and it fills in your versions and addons for you. It reads what you paste in your browser, and nothing is sent to Skriptly.
  • Search with filters from anywhere with / or Ctrl/⌘ K: type price:free skript:2.9 mc:1.21 and press Enter to browse with those applied.

A tick on the grid means the creator listed that combination, not that it was tested together. If it matters, read the reviews.

Promoted scripts

The home page has a Promoted strip. Creators with Seller+ pay for those places, so treat it as advertising: the scripts rotate daily and aren't chosen for quality. They were reviewed like every other script, and nothing promoted ever appears in search results or the browse list.

Every version is checked

Every version of every script is scanned automatically and read by a person before it can be downloaded. The listing shows when that happened and how many things the scan flagged, and free scripts show their source with the flagged lines marked, so you can read exactly what you're about to run.

That lowers the risk. It doesn't remove it: a reviewer can miss something and scripts can have bugs. Read what a script does before you run it.

Installing

  1. Download the .sk file from the script's page.
  2. Put it in plugins/Skript/scripts/ on your server.
  3. Load it with /sk reload <name of the file>, or restart the server.
  4. Follow the listing's notes for commands, permissions and config.

To update, download the new version and replace the file. Each version has a changelog, and free scripts have a View code changes link that shows a line by line comparison with the version before.

Keeping track

  • Save for later on a listing adds it to Dashboard > Saved. If a paid script you saved drops in price, you'll get a Discord DM, at most once a week per script. You can turn those notices off in settings.
  • Reviews need a signed-in account that has downloaded the script (or bought it, for a paid one), so they come from people who actually used it.
  • Follow new releases in a feed reader: the whole site is at /feed.xml, and each creator has one at /creators/<name>/feed.xml.

If something stops working after an update, use Broke after an update? on the script's page. See When something goes wrong.
